Recommended period for sport fishing The best season for sport fishing are from October till November and from March till end of April.No fishing from May to early October
Local fishing Boats These local fishing boats are about 7 meters long, equipped with a 40-60 HP outboard engine and are quite comfortable for up to 2 anglers per boat.
Our Socotra fishing camp Our camp is based at the Northern east of the island at Ras Iresal or at Ar-ar beach which has a permanent fresh water stream goes to the sea , wonderful site to have a wash. It is also the point where the Indain Ocean and the Arabian sea meet.Our aim is to offer an exclusive services by the standards of the island, but in our camp you will have all the necessities,Camping facilities : tents, mattress, pillows, chairs, tables, cooking gear with ice box , lights and fresh water for washing.

As for fishing, Socotra may be considered one of the best wild destination for popping on the planet, thanks to the quantity and size of the GT found, with an average weight of more than 40 kg, but no trouble get up to 60 kg. More than GT (Giant Trevally), there are many other species that can be caught on popping and spinning, like huge red snapper, grouper of all types, coral trout, emperor, big Spanish mackerel, barracuda, golden trevally, kingfish, barracuda, yellow spotted trevally, black tip travelly, sailfish, dorado, wahoo and marlin. The best month for sail fish and Spanish mackerel are October and November, the other fish are present all year through. Also jigging can be practiced with success. We have amberjack, grouper, sharks, rusty jobfish. Also fishing from the shore offers interesting possibilities, given the presence of bonefish and striped threadfin ( similar to bonefish). We have marked 7 shipwrecks ,which are real hotspot for fishing ( either popping or jigging) and that are well within 15-30 minutes reach from the base camp.

:Day 1: Arrival in Socotra ( Hadibo +Diksam plateau)
Welcome to Socotra ! Upon your arrival at Socotra International Airport you will be met by your driver/guide and transferred to Socotra Hotel in Hadibo for check in then afterlunch . late afternoon Diksam plateau to visit the forest of Dragon’s blood tree, then drive back to Hadibo.Overnight accommodation: Dinner and overnight in Socotra Hotel
Day 2 : Sport fishing spot Ras Iresal ( from day 2 until day 7)(Ras Iresal is in the Northeast of Socotra, it is also the point where the Indian Ocean and the Arabian sea meet)Breakfast will be served very early (5:00 am) in Socotra Hotel to exploit the best part of the day on the sea. Transfer by 4×4 car to the most interesting fishing spot Ras Iresal. Upon your arrival to the fishing spot go out for fishing with local fishermen enjoy your time, the fishing trip in the morning lasts about 6 hours, boats are coxed by local fishermen very well skilled in this sea/Ocean and traditional fishing, but not such well trained in modern fishing techniques .Most of the anglers preferto practice popping and vertical jigging…
Lunch will be served at the beach. Relax and enjoy the island nature. Later you can do more fishing as spinning from the coast ( at your choice white sand beach or cliffs) or from the boats, ready at your service all the time.
Overnight accommodation: Dinner and overnight at the camp base
